Security cooperation plays a vital role in strengthening EU–ASEAN relations by promoting regional stability, trust, and shared strategic interests. Both regions face common security challenges such as terrorism, cybercrime, maritime security threats, and transnational crime. Through regular dialogues, joint training programs, and policy coordination, the EU supports ASEAN’s efforts to enhance conflict prevention and crisis management. In the middle of these efforts, EU ASEAN relations are reinforced by cooperation on maritime security, especially in ensuring freedom of navigation and respect for international law. The EU also contributes to capacity building, peacekeeping, and counterterrorism initiatives across Southeast Asia. This collaboration helps build institutional resilience and supports a rules-based international order.
