Roadside assistance to tow my car?

My car has broken down and needed towing only once in the last five years. I used my friend's AAA membership to get it towed to a repair shop for free, but he's not my friend anymore.
The problem is, other than AAA, I don't know what towing services I can use. If I need a tow truck and I just Google "tow truck near me," will the prices be insane? And I'll still have to pay for it because I'll need a tow truck at that point.
